How bad are the weeds in the lake?
Anyone boating across Paradise Lake last summer can attest that heavy weed beds of EWM (milfoil) have taken over a significant portion of the lake. It has reached a point that we risk losing local businesses, having property values decline, along with the increasing negative impact on recreation. We will not know the full extent of the problem in acreage until we have the weed survey that Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council is working on, but even the PLA acknowledged the seriousness of the problem through creating the Weed Study Committee. In November a realtor attended a PLA meeting stating
she could not sell property on the lake because of the weed problem. A person who wanted to buy property within Carp Lake was recently discouraged by a realtor because of the weed problem.
