What is a Limnologist?
A Limnologist is a person educated and experienced in lake management, specifically lake clean up. The firm we have hired is “LakeShore Environmental, Inc.”. The specialist we are working with is Jennifer Jermalowicz-Jones. We hired Jennifer after much background investigation, and after Jennifer supported over 2-hours of active discussion with the weed committee, weevil provider, DNR, and other interested parties. Through this 2-hour discussion, Jennifer and Lakeshore Environmental sufficiently demonstrated their position as a leading expert in this field. Paul Teike (Carp Lake Township Supervisor) attended the session and commented afterwards what a fine job she did leading the Q&A session and her knowledge for treating EWM. It is prudent to hire an expert to assess the explosion of EWM so that we avoid mistakes that waste valuable time and money.
Whatever treatment is chosen, many problems other lakes have faced may be averted by the consultant being present on the lake during the application process (whether it’s weevils or herbicides) to ensure it is applied in the right places and correct amounts. We understand there is a rumor that Jennifer (Ms Jones) works for a chemical company—this is completely false. Neither Jennifer nor Lakeshore Environmental Inc. is affiliated with any chemical company or service provider, and have prescribed both weevils and chemicals independently and in combination, making them an ideal consultant to fairly help us identify what solution is BEST for our lake.
